H.M. Miller Construction, H.R. Gray and the City of Akron began the final portion of sewer separation work at the intersection of S. Arlington St. and Johnston St. on Wednesday, September 13. This work required the closure of the entire west half of the intersection.
S. Arlington St. southbound traffic is being detoured using E. Exchange St., Brown St., Lovers Lane to S. Arlington Street
The northbound traffic from Johnston St., west of S. Arlington St., is being detoured using Margaret St., Corley St., Beaver St. to E. Exchange St., and the southbound traffic is being detoured using Inman St., Lovers Lane to S. Arlington St.
Beginning on Monday, September 18, the intersection will need to be closed to ALL traffic.
The majority of the S. Arlington St. northbound traffic will be detoured using Lovers Lane, Brown St. and E. Exchange St.
The local northbound traffic will be detoured using 2nd Ave., River St., Case Ave. to E. Market St.
Johnston Street traffic from the east side of S. Arlington St. will be detoured using River St., Case Ave. and E. Market St.
S. Case Ave. traffic will be detoured using River St. and 2nd Ave.
Access will be maintained for the local businesses, residents and emergency vehicles.
This closure is expected to last until Sunday, October 1.
