I-76 to Vernon Odom Blvd
Starts: June 10, 2019
Ends: May 4, 2020
For the first phase of the Romig Road Improvements project, The Ruhlin Company and the City of Akron have closed the east half of Romig Rd., between I-76 and Vernon Odom Blvd.
Traffic will be maintained on the west half of the street, but funneled down into a single lane in each direction.
Access to several side streets has become closed. To reach Kendale Dr., Woodbirch Ave., Fawler Ave. and Central Ave. drivers will need to use Grand Blvd. Detours are posted within the neighborhood.
The first phase of this project is expected to be complete by October of this year and the completion of the remaining work is expected to be by May 4, 2020.
Drivers are urged to use caution while proceeding through this area.
Planned for the week of August 26, nighttime paving will be occurring on Romig Rd., from just north of the I-76 W on-ramp to approximately 900 feet north of Kendale Dr. Traffic will be detoured using I-76, Barber Rd., Wadsworth Rd., Vernon Odom Blvd., Romig Rd. and the reverse.
Access will be maintained at the north end of this project for the residents and businesses that are located within this stretch.
